October PHD Report

I cannot believe that it's already November. Let's do a quick review of my October progress.

Linking with Ms. P's PHD in 2026

I completed one project from my UFO list, the Range quilt, item 20.

I completed two projects from the 2026 starts list. First is two Ghostie Girls table runners.

Second is the Jimothy pillow.

I made a very tiny amount of progress on the final new start from 2026, the BOOtiFall quilt. I completed a few blocks.

No other progress was made on anything from my UFO list.

I did complete a cross stitch project, however, I did not include any of my partially complete cross stitch projects on my list. I'd hoped to have this into a hoop for finishing by now. I've washed it, pressed it multiple times, steamed it, placed the tailor's clapper over it, and there are still creases in the fabric. I need to decide if I'm living with them or if I'm going to try additional methods to remove the creases.

After washing, pressing, steaming, putting it under the tailor's clapper

I feel like I'm in good shape to finish the PHD list, at least from the UFO section, since I only need one more finish and I'm currently working on a prototype (toile) for a dress (#6 on my list). The BOOtiFall quilt is incredibly time consuming. I'm hoping to get it finished this year, but I just don't know if I'll have enough time.

I'm still working my way through the remaining quilt bookings of the year.

I stitched Evenflow on Cynthia's quilt.

Sara picked Rolling Hills Stacked for this Indiana quilt.

I stitched Baptist Fan on a quilt Lori inherited from her mother's estate.
I also fully bound it.

Deb and I agreed on Stipple for this quilt.
I stitched Gulf Stream on Linda's quilt.
I stitched Echoed Circles on Linda's next quilt.
Star Struck was her choice for this one.
And Spring Thing for her last one.

Meanwhile, I've missed yet another big guild meeting. I am sick once again. Nothing major this time, just a sore throat, cough, slight congestion, but I don't want to spread it.

If you're wondering how Halloween went, we bought $20 worth of candy. We only handed out one piece per trick-or-treater and we had around 50 kids show up this year. The weather was gorgeous. I noticed several boys dressed as bananas, quite a few Minions, and girls with lots of makeup. One memorable costume was a boy dressed in a skimpy French maid-type outfit. There was also a toddler dressed in a suit. I thought he looked a bit like Bruno Mars. The kids with him said he was Mr. O'Hare. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I looked it up and it's the bad guy in The Lorax. Two toddlers and one teen tripped and fell on our porch.

I took a picture of my chickens on Halloween. There's Poppy and Smoky on the left. On the right, Henry is in the back, then Nugget, and Penny. Henry and Smoky are silkies, Penny and Poppy are Barred Rocks, and Nugget is a Chocolate Orpington. She's a chonk. I think it's mostly just the amount of fluffy feathers she has.

Until next week--
