Bits & Pieces

I've managed to sneak in a tiny bit of sewing this week. I have made all the HST units for the Magnificent Mystery Month 3 hourglass blocks. I'm still apprehensive about doing the actual combining-into-hourglasses part.
I've sewn one more set of blocks into rows for the race car quilt.
I've added the equivalent of one row of pattern to the little baby blanket I've been knitting for years (and years and years). No picture because it's dark and dreary out and you can't tell any real difference from last time I shared it even though I've added like 18 rows.

A while ago I decided to donate my partially done Jo-Ann block of the month from the year 2000. I can't find my pictures, so I borrowed one from eBay. I had completed only the pieced blocks and stalled out when it came time to do the appliqué.
So I donated the whole thing, including the setting kit, to the big guild's orphan blocks program. I just received the newsletter link and look what they turned it into! They donated it to the local women's domestic abuse shelter.

Over in my work zone, there's been a lot of quilting going on. I quilted Ginger Heart on Amber's quilt.

I quilted Cable Knit on Shirley's IU quilt.
I stitched down the binding on Gina's quilt.
Keetah chose Outside In for her quilt.
I stitched Chunky Knit on Sonja's quilt. This is a design that requires you to load the quilt sideways in order to get the desired effect.

Margaret's table runner got Cobwebs.
We picked Suzy Quilts' Boho Birds for Sonja's Holiday Party quilt (pattern by Suzy Quilts). I'm pretty sure both of Sonja's quilts were made out out of sheets, front and back.
Hannah selected Holly and Berries for her holiday quilt. You can't really see much of the design on the quilt in the photo.
Other than all the quilting, I've been preparing to list my kids' Thomas the Tank Engine toys. My son helped me set up a photo area to take pictures and my daughter found boxes from the Mount Boxmore area of the basement to fit each set. My next major non-business task is to get them all listed on eBay. I think it's going to take forever. I hope there is a decent return on time investment. I also really hope they all sell so that I can reclaim some space and raise some funds.

My husband has most of the siding back on the house. He still has to do the door alcove and the shakes above the trim board. Then he gets to figure out how to reinstall the columns and their bases.

In addition to my usual fun e-book reading, I've started reading Prince Harry's Spare that I got at the food bank book sale. I'm still in the first section. So far I feel like he really could have used some counseling after Princess Diana died. He was clearly lost and floundering.

Everything else in my life feels pretty heavy right now. I'm trying not to dwell on things I can't change (which is most of it, unfortunately). Send me & my family some positive thoughts if you're so inclined. I'm thankful I have a decent amount of work right now.

Oh, yes, stop back on Saturday to join in One Monthly Goal. Which project do you think I'll pick???
