Over the weekend I was able to quilt the Jimothy block. I did freehand quilting and used four colors of thread: white, Thyme, Flint, and Shadow. The fabric we used for binding is the background of this picture.
I was quite concerned about quilting the linen fabric I'd used for the main body as it is very thin and fragile. I decided that no matter what the quilting looked like, I was not going to rip it out since it would likely snag or otherwise ruin the linen. So Jimothy has wavy, water-like fur. 😅
Before quilting, the block measured 16.5" square. After quilting, it was 16".

I had purchased an 18" pillow form as the general guidance online seems to suggest going a size larger. We had to really struggle to get the form into the cover. It did not look good and was really straining some of the seams. I sent the kids to the store to buy a 16" insert instead. It looks much better.
I also finished up the binding on the second Ghostie Girls runner. Here they are. I quilted them with the Identity design and 60-wt (finer) thread.
Sadly, no further progress on the dress that I need to wear in two and a half weeks. Both kids stayed longer on Sunday than I was planning, so I didn't end up with additional sewing time. It's okay, I'll always choose time with my kids (at least when they're not living with me 🤪).
I didn't think I'd done much quilting, but then I looked at my camera roll and I've done a lot. First I quilted Surge on Ann L.'s quilt.
I quilted Lovely Loops on Ann's next quilt. Funny aside--I got an email advertising this exact quilt kit just after I'd finished with it. It was one of those that is totally pre-cut.
We went with Echo Blossoms for this quilt. I'm not certain what the fabrics were for the front, but they were so soft and smooth and had a really nice hand. The back was a wide back from Kaufmann. It was digitally printed, but very high quality. None of those pesky digital fabric runs.
I wrapped up the quilting of Ann's quilts with Cassava on this one.I also applied the binding to all six of her quilts.
This week I quilted Winterfest on Jan S.'s quilt.
Heidi requested Echoed Circles for this quilt.
Finally, one more of Heidi's, quilted with Frost.
Out in the garden, my husband kindly planted one bag of daffodil bulbs in the barn landscaping while I weeded the barn garden. We have two more bags of bulbs to go. Our plan is one bag of bulbs per evening. I thought I'd missed my window to cut a chunk off my sweetspire shrub to transplant into the barn garden, but it turns out the recommended window is November - March. The other plants I want to get for this garden I will need to order during the winter. I am trying to put mostly natives in it.
I also realized that I completely forgot to plant a fall crop of snap peas. I think it went by the wayside after I got sick. I haven't even been in the vegetable garden since we harvested all the tomatoes while I was sick back in August. I need to get in there and just rip everything out.
I've been enjoying trying to spot flocks of Cedar Waxwings out in the woods. My camera lens isn't powerful enough to get really amazing pictures at that distance, but I finally captured a few I thought were decent.
I also got a picture of a flicker that was trying to get into my house.
My son received two parking tickets at school. He successfully fought one. I told him I'd pay the first one, but any additional he incurs are on him. Other than that, he still seems to be enjoying his college experience. My daughter is back in school, working on a certificate in a different field than her degree. She is still working full time as well.
